We are actively committed to protecting our planet at every stage of our product development. From the choice to grow our marine extracts in a controlled laboratory environment and use marine collagen from sustainably harvested tuna, through to our OWP partnership to house our products in recycled Ocean Waste Plastics and our FSC certified sustainably sourced paper packaging. Every decision we make is to protect our precious resources.

We’re proud to be one of the early adopters in the New Zealand skincare industry to use Ocean Waste Plastic™ (OWP), who recycles plastics collected from oceans, beaches and rivers, turning it into Syrene Aqua packaging.
SUSTAINABLE INGREDIENTS
Every decision we make is to protect our precious resources. The ingredients we choose to create our luxurious formulas are sustainably sourced, from our algae extracts grown in a laboratory, which limits the harvesting of marine resources to our marine collagen derived from tuna skin that is a by-product of the fish food production industry.
PRODUCT CARTONS
Our cartons a re all FSC certified. The FSC or Forest Stewardship Council certifies that the paper products that make up our product cartons are sourced from a forest and supply chain managed responsibly and sustainably. FSC forest management standards are developed at an international level and adapted to individual countries’ legal, social, and geographical settings, through national standards.
A SECOND AQUA LIFE
With packaging as luxurious as ours, it would be a waste to throw away your empty products. Take advantage of our bottles and jars and give them the second life they deserve. We encourage our customers to reuse their Syrene bottles and jars as creatively as they wish!
TERRACYCLE® X MECCA
To ensure your beauty empties don’t end up in landfill, our retailer MECCA have partnered with TerraCycle®, the global leaders in recycling the unrecyclable. Rather than throwing away your already-loved bottles, pots and tubes, TerraCycle’s recycling program sends back your beauty waste, ready to be sorted, processed, and transformed into something new (and just as beautiful). Next time you’ve finished your Syrene product, give your local MECCA in New Zealand or Australia a visit and pop your clean empties into a labelled bin, or pass them on to a team member at the registers.
INKS
Our product cartons are printed with mineral oil free vegetable based conventional inks and OPV’s, which are completely compostable. Standard UV inks do not breakdown and are harmful to the environment.
