Turning The Tide On Ocean Waste

The Syrene brand is set apart with its oceanic difference. The natural formulas are housed in stunning aquamarine packaging, each with a unique shell emblem representing the different phases of a woman’s life. The products contain 100% natural fragrance reminiscent of a sea breeze, and the profound efficacy is derived from hero ingredient Ephemer™, an algae extract rich in antioxidants helping with elasticity and contributing to the protection of the skin, slowing the formation of free radicals responsible for ageing.

Looking after our oceans is important to us. Plastic pollution in the oceans is one of the biggest environmental concerns of our lifetime and is set to triple in the next decade unless prompt action is taken. We’re conscious of this and are taking steps in order to help turn the tide on ocean waste.

Ocean Waste Plastic
Our first major step has been to partner with Ocean Waste Plastic™ (OWP™). OWP™ collects plastics from beaches, shores and rivers and recycles this into new packaging. This not only cleans up the waters, but also helps reduce Co2 emissions by >60% compared to virgin plastic, which leads to the use of less energy and emits fewer greenhouse gases. To date, Syrene has already helped remove approximately 180,000 plastic bags from our oceans! OWP™ goal in 2020 is to collect and re-use 3,000 tons of Ocean Waste Plastic™. They have already collected more than 2,100 tons of plastic from the oceans. We’re proud to be part of this initiative in helping protect our environment.

A Second Aqua Life
Sustainability will always be a work in progress, but in the meantime, we are encouraging our customers to reuse their Syrene jars and bottles. Adding a touch of aqua to your home and giving your Syrene packaging a second aqua life is pretty simple. We’ve seen our jars being used to store cotton pads, stationary, jewellery and more. Our bottles make excellent vases too. Find a bit of inspiration on our Pinterest board and make sure to tag Syrene on Instagram to show us how you get creative and reuse your aqua beauties.
